For 1 year, you receive weekly injections containing allergens you’re sensitive to. This helps your body slowly adapt to these allergens, which makes reactions less severe whenever you get exposed to them.
When you first start treatment, your weekly injections contain only small doses of allergens. This prevents symptom flare-ups while still exposing your immune system to the substance it sees as harmful. Then, over time, we increase your dosage so that your body can continue to adjust to your allergens.
Once we hit the maximum dosage, we continue to provide you with injections for the duration of the year. As time goes on, your allergic reactions can become more and more minor. Eventually, you may not even notice them at all!
